“My favorite types of ponds are the ones where I can’t tell exactly where the water ends and where the land begins,” says Brian Helfrich, construction mgr. of Aquascape Deisgns.

The good folks at Aquascape provided this video overview of this older pond buildout located in the greater Chicago area. This is a cozy, little gem with its lush vegetation and subtle pond accents, such as the arched bridge. According to Brian, he has been modeling his own backyard after this one for years.

The small pond includes smaller granite boulders, huge koi fish and a slow meandering stream to attract birds.

Watch this video and it feels like the lazy days of summer are just out your backdoor.

  1. Beautiful. Just what I would like if I had the money. I love the way the koi come up to be rubbed. I didn’t want my koi to come to close to the sides in case of animals. What do they do to keep herons out of the pond.
