The pond community is alive and well
I’ve had the privilege of being on several pond-related business trips as of late. First, I went to the Bedrock memorial build prior to the Water Garden Expo in Oklahoma. Then a few weeks later, I flew out to Las Vegas to attend the first-ever All-American Koi Show. What a pleasure to run into so many “big fish” in the pond industry!
The pond community is alive and well! Kelly Billing and I pulled up to the memorial build and — I kid you not — it looked like an army of ants working! It was all hands on deck all the way from the top of the stream down to the end. Everyone was happily working along and enjoying the experience and time together. It was such an inspiration! (Check out Billy “Bedrock” Franklin’s article on the build.) Then, the Water Garden Expo saw more pond folks getting together to learn from the seminars, check out vendors and enjoy camaraderie. Finally, the All-American Koi Show, the first of its kind, was simply amazing. Koi owners and breeders can’t help but have smiles on their faces while they speak fondly of their koi. I’d say these are all very good signs about the state of our industry!
John Adams and his family, too, were all smiles when his personal Oasis waterfall and grotto project, which we covered in our September/October 2022 issue, received its finishing touches. We’re also happy to welcome first-time contributor Erik Ingebretsen from PerformancePro Pumps, who walks us through the pump-repair process. April Dugan takes a look at building with moss, and George Mihalchick suggests creative ways to hide pond equipment.
Happy PONDering!
