Matt Van Vlack is the foreman for Apple Ponds and Water Features. His passion for water features started back in elementary school when he built a classroom pond with his dad, Bert Van Vlack, owner of Apple Ponds and Water Features. The classroom pond led to the construction of a family pond for transporting the classroom goldfish. Over the years, Matt helped at his dad’s company during the summers and after class in college. Over the past 15 years, Matt has worked at Apple Ponds and Water Features, which specializes in pond renovations, including upgrading filtration systems and performing complete overhauls with new water features and large pond fountains in balanced ecosystems. Matt loves the challenge of sorting through rock piles to pick the right stone to control water flow and provide the most naturalistic view. He hopes his daughters will want to spend more time with him pondside as they get older. Today, they love feeding the koi Cheerios during the summer.
