Laura Bancroft is the operational manager of Ten Mile Creek Nursery in Hartford, Alabama, which grows more than 300 varieties of exotic Nelumbo nucifera from around the world. Ten Mile Creek Nursery has sold thousands of potted lotus and dormant tubers and has recently begun to harvest thousands of pounds of lotus biomass every year for biochemical research and development companies who use it in health and beauty products. Lotus has revolutionized the nursery so much that it is now the only thing they grow.
