Southern California Backyard Transforms Pool to Pond
Part of me really hated to destroy such a beautiful pool, but this enchanting space just begs for a tranquil pond, doesn't it?
After the swimming pool had been drained and demolished, we brought in several tons of screened topsoil.
After carving the levels and contours, we installed the underlayment and pond liner. Next, we rocked in the liner and covered the bottom with smooth pebbles, which greatly increase the surface area and become a media for beneficial bacteria to colonize
One of the favorite places for goldfish to swim is
in the shallows of the pond wetland.
When you have to work around existing
structures, the goal is to create the illusion
that the new water feature always existed in
that space. But it goes without saying that
hauling 15 tons of rock and boulder up a
hillside without damaging the wooden stairs
was not a simple task.
Surrounding a small waterfall with ferns is a great way to create a natural-looking water feature
The finished product was a beautiful pond that looked like Mother Nature created it herself.
