My wife and I are the owners/design team of White Gardenia Landscapes and we are very excited to be writing in one of our favorite magazines! We were introduced to water features about 30 years ago and fell in love with them immediately. We installed the first one in our own home and just knew we wanted to incorporate them in our designs. So we are many projects later and going strong! Every water feature project has its own set of challenges, interesting aspects and usually rewarding at the end.
Making our clients dreams come true has always been our number one priority.
I’m sharing a project we completed recently for a very big water garden enthusiast, Dr. Michael Harwood and his wife Linda. Linda has been a very important part of the Greater Kansas City Water Garden Society (GKCWGS) for many years. She is the head of tours and shows for the water garden society, and the couple’s passion for water gardening truly shines on their own spectacular property.
Our team installed a very large natural stone bubbler with landscaping and the latest project was installing two large copper spillway bowls that go downhill. We installed a very large hand painted turtle which ended with a round paver lotus pond.
The entire side and back except for a small hill of grass are all water gardens and landscaping. This one-of-a-kind very unique property feels like a high-end resort on an exotic island in the middle of the pacific ocean. With its custom eight-foot metal and copper palm trees to its many tropical plants; hundreds of flowers, water plants and five unique and custom water features at the property, which are host to hundreds of koi and shubunkins.
There is truly something interesting, beautiful and extravagant wherever you look!
White Gardenia Landscapes has been fortunate to work for Dr. Michael and Linda on several projects over the last few years. The first one included a 8 x 10 foot custom mexican and white rock turtle that was installed at the entrance of two paver pillars with a custom copper leaf gate leading into the property
We also did a natural stone retaining wall around part of a bog, where we incorporated a seven-foot metal and copper palm tree.
