We’re less than a week away from the presentation of POND Trade’s Water Artisan of the Year awards to honor the 2017 pond season’s “best of the best.”
Like last year’s inaugural contest, winners will be announced at the opening of the trade show at the Water Garden Expo (WGE) in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Publisher Lora Lee Gelles will present the top awards in five categories on Thursday morning, Feb. 22, 2018.

“We had a huge response for the second year in a row,” Gelles said. “This year’s talent was beyond impressive.”
Gelles assembled the “next Supreme Stream Court” of judges composed of three winners from last year’s contest and four industry experts to evaluate and rate each entry, with no knowledge of the applicants’ identities. Each entry accompanied a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, permitting POND Trade magazine to proudly make a total donation of $1,375 to this award-winning charity benefiting disabled veterans.
Awards will be presented to the highest-rated projects in the following categories: best waterfall, best pondless, best under $15,000, best large scale and most artistic. Profiles of the winner and runner-up in each category will be featured in the March/April 2018 issue of POND Trade magazine.
