Video | POND Trade Artisan Winner Revisits Koi Pond

Published on May 10, 2019

Our Water Artisans of the Year Awards (WAOTY) is a labor of love at POND Trade Magazine and we enjoy highlighting great pond contracting work each year. One of our winners, John Adams at Modern Design Aquascaping, recently visited his Water Artisans of the Year winning koi pond (click here)  — most naturalistic category — in Maryville, Tenn. and John provided this video, above.

Below is a description of the award-winning pond:

He and his team channeled the spirit of the Smoky Mountains in this multidimensional build, with locally sourced stones and driftwood accents. The customer can get his feet (or more) wet at the multiple interaction points built around the pond, leading to massive fish caves and LED lighting that illuminates the feature’s happy little residents. Some of the swimmers in this koi palace are more than 20 years old.

This is a fun video. John discusses the pond design, such as the fish cave, huge boulders, power consumption, filter system, secret falls and koi discussion. And, at the start, John provides a WAOTY trophy to the owners. Enjoy!
