Ozark Fisheries, Inc., of Stoutland, Missouri, will be celebrating their 90th anniversary on July 29, 2016. Ozark Fisheries is a privately owned family business currently operated by the third and fourth generation of its founder, Mr. Lawrence Bailliere.
Ozark Fisheries began in 1926 when partners Lawrence Bailliere and Charles Furrow purchased 97 acres in Camden County.
In 1938, Mr. Bailliere bought out his partner and expanded the hatchery operation through the purchase of additional acreage and the construction of new ponds.
In 1978, Ozark’s top competitor, Grassyfork Fisheries, Inc., of Martinsville, Indiana, was acquired. Today, the company is one of the largest producers of ornamental goldfish and koi in the United States.
The president of Ozark, Lawrence B. Cleveland, thanks the communities of Richland, Stoutland and the surrounding areas for their tremendous support over the years. “Without the expertise and hard work of our neighbors, employed by Ozark through the years, the company could not have achieved the growth and success it enjoys today”.
The anniversary celebration will include the dedication of new offices and an expanded facility warehouse.
