Richard J. Stange has been a fisheries professor in the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at the University of Tennessee for over 30 years. His love of fish began when his aunt took him fishing at age three, then soon was an aquarium hobbyist, as well. Richard had the opportunity to study fisheries at Colorado State, Virginia Tech, and Oregon State before coming to Tennessee. His teaching and research interests have included many aspects of fishes. He began working with koi hobbyists and pond owners over 15 years ago, through various hobbyist organizations. He has given short-courses and seminars on various aspects of ponds and fish keeping.
