2017 Water Artisans Contest is Now Open!

Published on July 25, 2017

artisans of the year logoBuilding on the success of our first annual Water Artisans Contest, POND Trade Magazine proudly announces that our 2017 competition is now open to entries and we have new categories this year! Our judges have added “Best Water Feature under $15,000, Most Artistic and Best Large Scale Project, along with last year’s Best Pondless and Best Waterfall.

The independent contest is intended to honor specific water feature construction projects completed by professional contractors and eligible projects must have been completed between Jan 1, 2017 and Nov 1, 2017.

“We were thrilled that last year’s contest was such a big hit,” says Lora Lee Gelles, publisher of POND Trade. “We are proud to serve as a level playing field for the entire spectrum of talented contractors in this growing and vibrant industry.”

In addition to promoting friendly competition, this year’s contest will also raise awareness and donations for a charitable cause – the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The WWP was founded in 2003 to provide a variety of services and events for wounded veterans of the United States military. As of January 2016, more than 100,000 service members and their family members were registered with WWP programs. For more information, visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

The entry fee for each submission is $25, with all proceeds benefiting the WWP. Each entry donation should be accompanied by up to four photos of the candidate project, along with a brief write-up of no more than 50 words. Projects completed in 2016 are not eligible for this year’s contest, and multiple entries for the same project in different categories are not permitted

Atlantic Oase Training
POND Trade has assembled a new panel of judges representing numerous specialties within the pond and water feature construction industry to review this year’s submissions. Like last year, the judges will have no knowledge of the names of specific contractors or products during the review process.

“I’ll personally collect each submission and present it blindly to the judging panel,” says Gelles. “To be as fair and impartial as possible, we’re asking that contestants not include any brand names in the photos or descriptions.”

Winners and Honorable Mentions will be featured in the March/April 2018 issue of POND Trade. Click here to see last year’s winners.

The deadline for submissions is Nov 1, 2017. No entry will be considered eligible for the contest without all three required components: the $25 entry fee, up to four photos and a description of up to 50 words.
